Content

Nanomaterials, namely materials with at least one dimension between 1 and 100 nanometres, are intensively investigated both for their unique physical and chemical properties, which differ from those of bulm materials, and also for a wide range of technological applications in which they have found usage including quantum electronics, healthcare, water purification and other consumer products.

In this seminar, we will discuss the most important advancements made in the synthesis and fabrication of nanomaterials, focusing in particular on those nanomaterials (e.g., 2D materials, core/shell nanoparticles, nanoporous materials, nanotubes) which have raised great interest both in the scientific community and industrial world over the past decade. After reviewing the special physical properties of these nanomaterials, in the seminar we will discuss the main technological fields where they have found applications and the related open challenges.
